BioInformatiCo is in the Sunday Times Top 15 Best Places to Work in South Africa!
We are proud to announce that BioInformatiCo has been ranked in the Sunday Times Top 15 Best Places to Work in South Africa Awards! This incredible recognition is a testament to our commitment to fostering a workplace that prioritises growth, learning and well-being for every member of our team.
Empowering Employees and Building Capacity
BioInformatiCo is on a mission to build clinical data management capacity both across the African continent and within the South African workforce. Central to our vision is the development of our employees’ skills and careers.
We run a capacity development programme aimed at hiring new university graduates as interns and equipping them with the skills and experience necessary to take on vital roles within the company. Over the past year, we have trained and hired seven interns through this six-month to one-year programme. Given the scarcity of job opportunities in South Africa, we are proud to play our part in equipping young graduates with marketable skills in clinical data management.
Commitment to Continuous Learning
At BioInformatiCo, professional development is a cornerstone of our employee experience. We ensure all employees receive industry-specific training, and we cover optional extracurricular training to help employees enhance their skills. Additionally, our team members gain exposure to the latest technologies and innovations by attending conferences such as the SA Future Trust Summit and the Singularity Conference—inspiring events that connect thought leaders and innovators.
Prioritising Mental Health and Team Building
We recognise that a healthy mind leads to a productive team. This year, we offered an optional Transcendental Meditation (TM) workshop, subsidising over 80% of the cost. Our CEO, who meditates twice daily, encourages employees to embrace mindfulness practices during office hours to boost mental well-being and productivity.
Team building is also a priority at BioInformatiCo. From our annual team outings—this year, we visited the Museum of Illusions and went up Table Mountain—to creating opportunities for collaboration and connection, we are committed to fostering a positive, cohesive team culture.
A Workplace Where Employees Thrive
Our efforts to support our team extend beyond training and development. We provide flexible working arrangements, including two remote workdays per week, and offer perks such as team lunches, a fully stocked kitchen with snacks, kombucha, and a wide selection of teas.
Our workspace is designed to promote happiness and comfort, with exercise balls, Vetsaks (beanbags), and a gratitude board where employees can share what they’re thankful for. For birthdays, we celebrate with cake, and we organise team lunches every few months to show our appreciation.
Quarterly company culture meetings allow everyone to align with our mission and vision, celebrate achievements and contribute feedback to help shape the future of BioInformatiCo. These meetings aim to create a space where employees feel heard, valued and involved.
Why Employee Wellbeing Matters to Us
At BioInformatiCo, we believe that employee wellbeing is synonymous with the wellbeing of our company. Every initiative, from team outings to gratitude boards, is designed to create a supportive and welcoming environment where our team can thrive.
We are deeply honoured to be recognised as one of the Sunday Times Top 15 Best Places to Work in South Africa and remain committed to continuing our journey of empowering employees and building a company culture that we are proud of.
